Marathon Abstract is an abstract and title insurance agency, providing service throughout upstate New York. Working primarily with attorneys and lenders, Marathon provides certified abstracts of title. The abstract contains information pertaining to a particular property that has been recorded with the County clerk, including court filings with the clerk, court tax assessor records and federal bankruptcy court records. In addition, Marathon Abstract provides fee owner and mortgagee or lender's title insurance policies, insuring purchasers of real estate and mortgage lenders.
Holcombe began his career in the abstract and title insurance industry in Rochester in 1982 and after 20 years experience with two companies, openend his own office. As computers were starting to have a real impact on business in the early 1980s, Holcombe completed college coursework in computer science. Twenty years later, bringing the abstract and title insurance industry another step into the information age, Marathon Abstract is the first local abstract and title company offering clients.
