Mountain Abstract Company, Inc. is a full service title company servicing Warren, Washington, Essex, Hamilton and Saratoga Counties. In addition to abstracts of title, the Company offers title insurance through its two underwriters, Ticor Title Insurance Company and Chicago Title Insurance Company. Mountain Abstract is a member of the New York State Land Title Association, Inc. and the American Land Title Association.
Mountain Abstract was originally incorporated in 1973. Tom Magee became sole owner of the corporation in 1998 after having been a part owner and President since 1979. The Company currently employs 15 people at their office in Chestertown.
In 2003 Mountain Abstract acquired the assets of Hamilton Abstract Corporation. Hamilton Abstract, a division of Mountain Abstract, maintains an office in Lake Pleasant, NY providing searches and title insurance for properties in Hamilton County. Hamilton Abstract is the only full time abstract company in Hamilton County.
With nearly 30 years in business in Northern NY, Mountain Abstract has become a resource for back title information on many properties. Over the years, Mountain Abstract has developed an expertise in hydro electric projects and subdivisions. They are local people dealing with local properties and local title issues related to those properties.
The Company offers services such as Fee or Owner Insurance Policy, Loan or Mortgage Insurance Policy, Owners and Mortgage Leasehold Insurance, Limited Liability Search Only, Last Owner Search, Judgment & Lien Search, Original Abstracts and Tax Searches.
