The Company is a full-service title insurance agency located in Hutchinson, Kansas dedicated to providing prompt and professional title insurance and real estate closing services to the general public, realtors, builders, and lenders throughout the state of Kansas.
The Company has professional relationships with many underwriters such as Chicago Title Company, Columbian National Title Insurance, Lawyers Title Insurance and Stewart Title Insurance. RCAT's history begins in 1884. Originated by J.S. May in 1884 when he was serving as register of deeds for Reno County. The original name of the company was the May Abstract & Title Company. The company changed ownership twice before Merv C. Hartke, John F. Hayes, and William Miller bought the company in 1955 and was then incorporated as the May Abstract & Title Company, Inc. In 1969, Merv purchased the interest of his partners. When Merv purchased the company, he was the manager of Hall abstract company, where he got his start in the title business in 1941.
Although RCAT, Inc. only provides data from within Reno County, they perform many types of searches and issue owners and loan policies to vendors throughout the entire United States. Reno County Abstract & Title, Inc. writes for large companies such as Lawyers Title, Chicago Title, Stewart Title, and Columbian Title. The Company ahs a complete title plant and have an optical image program to access documents quickly.
Some additional services they provide are Escrow closings, Certificates of title, Abstracts of title, Limited title/home equity policy, Tax sales etc.
