TA Title Insurance Company
T.A. Title Insurance Company began in 1948 when J. William Cotter, Sr., after many years in the title insurance business, started Title Abstract Company of Pennsylvania. By 1949, there were fifteen employees and two offices; one in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania and one in Media, Pennsylvania.
The Company aided by a young and forward thinking staff, was responsible for major technical and procedural innovations within the industry which continue until this day. T.A. was responsible for streamlining many local searching procedures, which resulted in time and effort savings without sacrificing accuracy.
Beginning in 1980, T.A. Title developed an Approved Attorney and Agency Division providing the ability to insure titles throughout all 67 Pennsylvania counties and throughout the states of Delaware, Maryland, Ohio, New Jersey, New York and Florida. T.A. Title also expanded that year to include T.A. Financial Services which extends their services to commercial banks, savings banks and equity lenders.
The Company in keeping with its tradition of innovative customer services, created 1031 Corp specializing in 1031 tax deferred exchanges. 1031 Corp, a fully owned subsidiary of T.A. Title Insurance Company, is a full service intermediary, assisting investors nationwide in deferring capital gains from the sale of business use or investment property. A growing need for convincing and recording services in the real estate industry prompted T.A. to provide a company to meet its customer’s needs. The Processing Center offers full or partial convincing, giving prompt and accurate service.
Insurance Company now employs approximately 150 people. Their employees are extremely committed because they are building their future. The years of experience of their staff, combined with T.A.'s career development training program, give T.A. Title the expertise necessary to provide the very best in title insurance services to all its agents, clients and lenders.
