The American Land Title Association Regulates Title Insurance
Founded in 1907, the American Land Title Association (ALTA) is the national trade association that represents and defends the title insurance industry. Headquartered in Washington DC, this association is responsible of improving the quality and business atmosphere of their members related to title insurance. In addition, ALTA has promulgated a series of standardized forms for the conditions and terms of title insurance policies in order to regulate better this service in the market. Although these forms are adopted in the majority of states in the country, some states have their own regulation forms. However, they are not so dissimilar to the ALTA forms.
