The company has been governed by a Board of Directors since its organization in 1877 and currently has a staff of 32 employees. Farmers and Mechanics Mutual Fire Insurance Company of West Virginia certified and acknowledged by the Court of Berkeley County in the State of West Virginia. They are the oldest Mutual Fire Insurance Company in West Virginia. In 1941 the State Insurance Commissioner recommended the Adoption of Constitution and By-Laws. In 1942 they became a member of NAMIC, National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies.
An individual insurance policy that provides coverage for both Section I Property and Section II Personal Liability and Medical Payments under one policy. Section I covers the owner-occupant of a dwelling for a multitude of perils. While Section II covers for legally obligated damages of bodily injury or property damage arising out of an insured’s premises or personal activities. Medical Payments to others covers medical expenses incurred by persons, other than the insured, for an accident arising out of an insured’s premises or personal activities.
The firm provides coverage on a dwelling used solely for residential purposes with incidental occupancies or up to five roomers or boarders are permitted, containing not more than four apartments, and dwellings in the course of construction.
