Ohio Casualty Group
Ohio Casualty Group was established in 1919 when entrepreneur Howard Sloneker Sr., of Hamilton, OH, just returned from World War I, joined with four other Ohio businessmen to found The Ohio Casualty Insurance Company. Howard's vision of an insurance company was closely tied to the emerging popularity of the automobile. In subsequent years, the Company grew into an insurance group, adding subsidiaries in strategic acquisitions that enhanced its geographic reach, strengthened its independent agency plant and broadened its product offerings. The most recent acquisition was the purchase of substantially all of the Commercial Lines Division of Great American Insurance Company.
The Ohio Casualty Groups brand initiative was launched in early 1998, featuring the Company's positioning statement. This statement summarizes the Company's commitment to service for the policyholder and independent agents, and provides a high standard to which associates aspire to achieve.
