The North Waterloo Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Company was established on June 9, 1874 when a number of farmers from the 3 northern townships of Waterloo, Ontario held a public meeting to form an independent farm mutual. Their goal was to provide adequate insurance on a cooperative basis and to overcome the high rates of the established insurance companies.
North Waterloo Farmers Mutual Insurance Company provides home, farm, commercial, and auto insurance across rural Ontario. For over 125 years they have developed a reputation for excellent service by providing peace of mind in small towns and the rural community. At least that's what their customers tell them.
Originally established as a fire insurance company for the Northern townships of Waterloo County, North Waterloo Farmers Mutual has continually expanded its scope to include its present day insurance coverage for all of Ontario. They actively support an independent broker network through which their products and services can be accessed. North Waterloo provides Products such as Cash Crop Coverage, Dairy and Beef Coverage, Elite Condominium Coverage, Elite Dairy Farm Program, Elite Homeowners Program, Equine Coverage, Farm Equipment and Produce Coverage, Hog Coverage, Poultry Coverage, Rural Home and Property Coverage and Tobacco Ginseng Coverage.
In order to obtain the Elite Homeowners coverage, your home must have been built since 1980, owner occupied as a single family dwelling and you have been claims free for the last 3 years. They will cover the cost of rebuilding your home if it is insured to 100 percent of its estimated replacement cost.
The Company issued 200 policies in its first year and eventually expanded its operations into other counties. The philosophy of meeting the needs of the policyholders, understanding exposures and limiting potential for loss through prevention, had proven to be a simple and effective growth strategy.
