Century Surety
Throughout the Company's history, this philosophy has allowed it to respond rapidly to opportunities presented by changing market conditions. It was established in1978 to issue coal mine reclamation bonds. Century Surety quickly launched its contract surety bond operation in 1979 and entered the excess and surplus lines insurance business in 1984. E&S remains Century's largest line of business.

As a specialty lines carrier, Century markets the majority of its insurance products on a surplus lines basis with specially crafted policy forms to address the nature of the risks considered. All property applications start with a fully completed accord applicant information section, plus a property supplement and an inland marine supplement if applicable. On many classes of business the insured's most recent financial statement and additional explanatory narratives, or perhaps a class specific application supplement, may be required as well.
