Andrew J. Pinkes Leads The Hartford 's Property & Casualty Run-Off Operations

HARTFORD, Conn., February 14, 2006 - The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. (NYSE: HIG), one of the nation's leading providers of investment and insurance products, announced today that Andrew J. Pinkes has been named president of Heritage Holdings, Inc., a unit which oversees the company's property and casualty run-off operations. Pinkes, who is currently the senior vice president and chief operating officer of Heritage Holdings, will assume overall responsibility for the group's operations and subsidiaries effective April 1. In his new role, Pinkes will replace David R. Robb, who will be retiring after a 30-year career with The Hartford.

Pinkes joined The Hartford in 2003 to lead the company's asbestos claims management activities and soon thereafter assumed responsibility for the Complex Claim Group, the department that manages all direct asbestos, silica, environmental and complex tort claims. He was named COO of Heritage Holdings in mid-2005.

"Since coming to The Hartford, Andy Pinkes has demonstrated the talent, judgment and determination needed to lead the company's property and casualty run-off operations," said Neal S. Wolin, executive vice president and general counsel for The Hartford. "His energy and creative thinking will be instrumental in confronting many of the company's most difficult and complex challenges. We are confident that Andy will be an outstanding leader and will build on the accomplishments of David Robb, who has assembled a strong team and leaves behind a real legacy of achievement."

Pinkes, a native of West Hartford, Conn., graduated from Connecticut College with a Bachelor of Arts in history. He received his Juris Doctorate from Western New England College School of Law and is admitted to the Connecticut state bar.

The Hartford, a Fortune 100 company, is one of the nation's largest financial services and insurance companies, with 2005 revenues of $27.1 billion. The Hartford is a leading provider of investment products, life insurance and group benefits; automobile and homeowners products; and business property and casualty insurance.
